We make sustainability reporting and sustainable food production easier and simpler by enriching product data with sustainability scores, using the latest scientific methods and standards.
To implement CSR strategies many companies lack reliable data. This makes it difficult to be transparent and guide better decision-making. This data is not only crucial for measuring and calculating impact but also for building sustainable trajectories for the future.
At FoodFacts, we understand the importance of trusted data points.

Automated scores
We have automated the calculation of Nutri-Score (European industry standard health score) and the NOVA groups (measure of how processed food is) for all products in Sweden.
Although we know there are debates about these scoring systems, we believe these are the best nuding tools currently available for consumers. Read more about Nutri-Score here and NOVA score here.
Although these scores don’t have to be presented to the end consumer, it can be used internally, for example, to filter products with a higher Nutri-Score in the portfolio. Nutri-Score can also be used to build customized health scoring systems where it can be combined with other health indicators. All of this is made possible with FoodFacts' intelligent food data and proprietary calculation algorithms.
Download our guide “How food labels can drive better consumption” to dive deeper into the use and potential of Nutri-Score and NOVA here.
Fully customizable lifestyle and health tags
In our platform we offer an array of fully customizable lifestyle and health tags that you can assign at product-level to enrich product data and make it intelligent. We have tags like palm oil free, vegan, organic, low sugar, high protein and many more. These tags can be combined with each other as well as the automated calculations of NOVA and/or Nutri-Score to create smart filtering functionalities. This can help e-commerce retailers to align better with CSR objectives using smart search filters.
For instance, if the objective is to reduce products containing palm oil, it is essential to include a "palm-oil-free" filter in the search function. Getting a clear overview of the number of products in the portfolio that contains palm oil can be easily achieved using our automated and fully customizable tags.

Developed together with experts
Developed in collaboration with recognized experts and compliant with international standards. We use public or NGO sources to provide reliable data for our calculations. Our CO2 footprints follow ISO standards 14040 and 14044, and our methodology is SBTi (Science-Based Target Initiative) compliant.
Our methodology
Our CO2 calculator is constructed using globally recognized and trusted primary sources of information. Our methodology was established with expertise from Stockholm Resilience Center and we continually work on improving it further with the latest from science. We have also used expertise from RISE through the RISE Climate Database for Food and have incorporated data from other international sources such as Agribalyse, FAOSTAT, and the International Energy Agency.
We have developed our method to calculate CO2e emissions within the boundaries "cradle-to-gate". This means it takes into account the environmental impact of food products from the agricultural/farm stage to the distribution plant, where the product is packaged and ready to be transported to retailers.
Our data sources follow ISO standards 14040 and 14044 and FoodFacts CO2 data can be used to evaluate the Scope 3 product-related GHG emissions as part of the SBTi requirements.
